Unplug and Unwind at W. Goodrich Jones State Forest

Commune with nature at W. Goodrich Jones State Forest outside of Conroe. Purchased in 1926 and named for the Father of Texas Forestry, 1,722 acres provide a large expanse of green space and natural habitat for wildlife.

Currently owned and administered by Texas A&M Forest Service, the Forest’s mission is conservation and education. Many visitors come for bird watching, especially from mid-March through late July during the Red-cockaded Woodpecker’s nesting season. The park provides essential habitat for this endangered species.

Visitors can also enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding on 15 miles of trails.
